A Guide to E&P Software Guides

A Guide to E&P Software Guides

As an industry leader in the upstream oil & gas software solution space, we tend to find ourselves unknowingly included in quite a few "guides" and "reviews". Several are positioned as unbiased and candid and in most cases they are produced by third-party consultants who either have worked on, worked for, or worked with, several of the software providers included. Well, we love it. They are interesting resources by some great partners that we've had the pleasure of working with. We think the inclusion is a wonderful opportunity for partners to Learn Enertia but we also tend to find some degree of imprecision on a lot of these guides. Oopsie. Let's chat about it:

That is the challenge with "unsolicited" content. Nobody asks us to fact check. That's ok, we're not perturbed about it. We know Enertia is quite complex and a very robust solution for those from the outside looking in. So, in an effort to supplement those nifty "lil" guides, here are a few misconceptions we tend to find on several that we would like to clear up:

Integration

Integration is huge. We've found several other ERPs listed as fully integrated but if there are multiple databases and several interfaces, chances are they are not truly fully integrated. Enertia Software still remains the only fully integrated ERP solution available for the upstream oil and gas industry because of our single-database solution. If you are entering the same data into multiple data-bases, you're not fully integrated and the margin for error has increased. This is why integration is so important.

Tier Solutions

Tier solutions are how most guides tend to categorize ERPs but Enertia is exceptionally scale-able. A common misconception with Enertia is an E&P organization is too small, when in fact, we cover a vast variety of customer sizes from non-ops to super-independents. Our Enertia NOW solution offers options for smaller upstream operators who are ready to turn on Enertia within an expedited time frame and we have several customers with over 200+ users who have scaled with Enertia.

Resources & Support

Enertia resources and support are mentioned often as a bit of a stretch. We'd like to take a moment to point out that those, who are not our customers, often tend to think we are challenging. We're not challenging, we just have different priorities. Our responses to their requests will always come after our customers. We've also recently reorganized our support structure and implemented a variety of new support resources to ensure the best possible customer experience.. Unfortunately, that's not going to do much for non-customers and their comments in guides but we can live with that. ;)

Sales Processes

Enertia's sales processes and approach is a bit unique in that we show prospect customers our actual software. We could make pretty fancy PowerPoints but why waste time looking at slides when you can see the actual day to day functionality? Kinda like going to look at a Ferrari and just watching a video of someone driving it. Who wants to do that? We want you to drive! Our down-to-earth and casual sales approach is very reflective of our culture. We're proud of our ability to relate to our customers and help them feel comfortable in a demo, which sometimes can be a very lengthy process. Let's make the most out of it and make sure you get to kick those tires.

E&P Companies

E&P companies are left to navigate through a maze of ERP solutions that are unclear - Well, not really. Most E&P organizations are quite sophisticated in their RFP process, efforts, and very prepared for in-person or virtual demos. At the end of the day, nothing beats actual software provider demos.

Now, I know I may have rustled some feathers with this little post, but I would be fibbing if I didn't say so many inaccurate "guides" and "reviews" did not get me in my feelings the same way.  Inaccurate information can easily be sourced with a phone call and/or chat with each software provider and we want to help make that resource as useful as possible. But until then, this lil shade post will have to suffice.

As an actual software developer, we always recommend that any E&P company, looking for a new software solution, not rely on just third-party guides, but to do your own research and of course, contact us! We're happy to answer any questions anyone may have about our awesome ERP solution and even provide some helpful checklists, references, and other resource tools to help you make the best possible informed decision.

Until next time...Be Well.
