40 Is The New 40

40 Is The New 40

If you are following Team Enertia on any social outlet, you may have noticed our recent new logo dump! It's because we're celebrating 40 years of upstream oil and gas ERP innovation so why not update our look a lil too? After all, 40 is the new 40! We're kinda proud about it because 40 years is a long time for upstream ERPing, worthy of celebration, and a detailed blog explication works too. Let's do this!

Consistency

For the past 40 years, we’ve innovated upstream oil and gas software, partnering with exploration and production companies to help provide the technology, tools, software, service, and support they need to have a competitive advantage in today’s upstream oil & gas industry. Forty years doesn't really sound like a long time, but find us another upstream oil and gas software that's been around longer and is still innovating, and we'll send you a swag bag! We’ve seen a lot of industry changes, oil and gas price fluctuations, and we’ve seen a lot of alternative software come and go…but we’ve remained steadfast in our mission to help our customers.

Longevity

What does 40 years look like? Here's a little trip down memory lane for you:

  • In 1983 the price of oil was a glorious $76.10 and Enertech Information Services was founded delivering a first-generation DOS product. The youngsters are like "What's a DOS?". 😆 But I bet ya'll all remember playing Mario on the original Nintendo. Classic!
  •  In 1985, Kevin Schmidt, joins the company, soon to become the founder of Enertia Software, and the price of oil was chillen at $72.79. Also in 1985, CD's were introduced and I just made some of ya'll feel old. LOL. My bad.
  • In 1986 oil & gas prices plummeted due to reduced demand and increased production causing a glut in the world market. The result was a six-year decline in the price of oil, which chopped the price by half in 1986 alone, averaging out at a painful $24.95 for the year. Meanwhile, Enertia was establishing our Midland presence.
  • In 1992, the price of oil continued to treat the industry like an unloved stepchild and hit an average of $19.49Kala Schmidt, who is still with Enertia Software today, joins the family and has since excelled to multiple roles including Director, Senior VP of Support Operations, and Chairman. Since Enertia's formation, Kala continues to mentor her team and remains passionately involved in the evolution and development of Enertia.
  • 1996 - The price of oil was $26.90 and Enertia Software began a ground-up rewrite. The newer technologies focused on the Windows-based platform which would provide substantial growth, flexibility, and opportunity. If you've heard us tell the story, this is the part where we say we" locked ourselves in a room". LOL.
  • In 1998 the price of oil continued to just not love us and we averaged out at $12.14, Enertia decides this is a great time to release Enertia Upstream, which has since serviced a customer base of 150+ upstream energy companies.
  • 2000 - Enertia Software initiates our first-ever User Conference, the price of oil was being too kind at $31.21. We have a picture, if you're feeling adventurous for some vintage nostalgia and the original way to wear high-rise jeans, click here. Our shirts sure have improved since then! 😉
  • 2002 the price was still hovering around an average mean of $31.21 and Enertia implements our Calgary software development team - focused exclusively on the advancement and development of the software.

  •  2006 - If I haven't lost your interest yet, I'm about to stimulate those senses because the price of oil jumps to $60.85 and Enertia drops the DOS version of the product and implements .net technology.

  • In 2008, the price of oil reminded us who was boss with a clap back to $44.60 - Vince Dawkins and Julian Alvarez join Enertia, who are now part of Enertia’s Leadership Team.
  • Welcome, 2010 with a price jump to $91.38 thanks to a series of winter storms labeled "Snowmageddon" that dropped up to 40 inches of snow in less than 1 week. The industry lost an offshore platform and Enertia’s growth expounds with some larger E&P operators, performance improvements, and transaction capabilities increases to millions.
  • In 2012 we were all singing breakup songs (loudly) with Taylor Swift and the price of oil was still hovering around $91.38. Enertia expanded our team with offices opening in Denver, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and Downtown Houston.
  • 2013, we were all doing the Harlem Shake and the price of oil average was $98.17. Enertia launches Enertia Go (now known as Enertia Now) industry innovative remote applications to incorporate mobile devices, setting the forefront for cloud and hosting alternatives.
  • 2014 Oil teased us in July when it was just over $100 a barrel and then got crazy again because everybody was having hydraulic fracturing parties all over the US, so back to $53.75 we went, but Enertia's product roadmap was pushing growth. The size of the application, the scope of services, and the complexity of the software quickly increased and called for an enterprise restructuring.

  • In 2015, Kevin Schmidt retired and Vince Dawkins became President & CEO with a  push for a new interface and modern application. The price of oil was $37.13 and the world also experienced one of the MEANEST cliff handers ever when Jon Snow died on Game Of Thrones. They were so wrong for that.

  • In 2016, the price was teasing us at $26.65 and Enertia launches the Field Data Capture App for Apple® iPad®.

  •  2018 - Enertia announces a purposeful cloud solution in a market of technology cloudiness (ha ha). "Cloud" was the buzz word and everybody had a cloud something...but nobody had it just right until we came along. Oh and the average price of oil was $45.18.

  • The price of oil was averaging around $61.14 in 2019 and Enertia pushes for enhanced support restructuring with the addition of our Customer Engagement Team and Dawn Edwards, long-time Enertia Veteran, is our VP of Support Solutions.

  •  In 2020 the market caught a major butt-kicking from a global pandemic called Covid-19 and prices averaged out at $48.52. Social distancing became the norm. Enertia launches Enertia Live with Enertia Learning and a few very fun Virtual Happy Hours to help reconnect our customers.

  • 2021 we all tossed out our face masks and freed Britney Spears! 😆 Enertia implements a newly designed customer interface and application base software as a service solution - Hello SaaS and Hello $57.97 bbl.

Still One Fully Integrated Solution

It's been quite a ride and we are so glad we've been able to enjoy it with the best customers in the industry!  If you're here still reading this, thank you. Thank you for being a part of Team Enertia and for a fantastic 40...cheers to the next!
